Periodontology

Periodontology is the study of the periodontium. It deals with the gums, the jawbone and possible disorders/diseases of this system: periodontitis is a degenerative change in the gums and the tooth-supporting jawbone without inflammation. Periodontitis is an inflammation in this area that should be treated to prevent tooth loss later on.

Periodontitis therapy

Depending on the severity of the disease, periodontitis can be treated with various measures. In the basic treatment, we clean the gum pockets under anaesthetic, remove all pathogenic plaque and smooth the accessible surfaces of the tooth roots. If necessary, we use surgical measures to cure you of periodontitis.

Periodontitis prophylaxis

If you belong to the risk patient group, e.g. if you have already suffered from periodontitis, thorough oral hygiene at home is the most important prophylactic measure. In addition, regular visits to the dentist are a must for prevention. We also recommend professional teeth cleaning 1-2 times a year to prevent periodontitis.

Acute inflammation of the gums

Your gums are exposed to many influences every day, which are not always easy to deal with. If gum inflammation develops due to bacterial infestation, for example, you should not take it lightly. If it remains untreated, periodontitis can develop.
